Job Description

As a Mechatronics Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electro-mechanical systems used in BSA’s rockets. Responsibilities extend from concept design and simulation, to prototyping, testing and integration. This role works as part of Black Sky’s Avionics development team, contributing to the success of Black Sky’s endeavours across its full life  cycle of products.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Adapt and extend BSA’s developed embedded software and tools for Avionics projects
  • Develop real-time software for deployment on avionics systems using RTOS
  • Assist in verification and validation of embedded software, by creating hardware and software in loop test infrastructure
  • Development of system diagrams, schematics, calculations and production drawings for electro-mechanical systems
  • Develop systems using low voltage DC power systems, actuators (servo motors, DC motors), GNSS, CAN networks, ethernet networks

Criteria – Required

  • 3+ years of proven experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, electronics engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in 3D modelling using Fusion360 software (or equivalent)
  • Experience in real-time embedded software development
  • Have extensive experience in C and/or C++ programming languages
  • Systems programming skills including algorithms, data structures and optimisation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Australian Citizenship 
  •  

·       Able to qualify for Ausralian security clearances

Criteria – Desired

  • 5+ years of proven experience

  • Baseline Security Clearance

  • Experience working with international standards, such as ISO 9001, AS9100
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces such as CAN, UART  (RS232/RS422/RS485), SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet etc
  • Familiarity with protocols such as Modbus, J1939, CANopen etc
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing software systems
  • Experience working with and testing electrical and mechanical systems
